#1 Some sharings before the first class

My Architectural Model, Student Accomodation, 2010, Scale 1: 100
My Concept model

This is my architectural model for my last semester coursework in UNSW Interior Architecture course. It is a 9-level student mulit-functional accomodation building which redeveloped from an existing cubic building that is currently existed in Sydney. The concept of my piece of architecture is "the interaction and interconnectivity of a system". I focused on the social network of the students and tried to achieve it from the building layout, internal planning, living formats and activities patterns led by passive designs of spatials in different area. The line joining technique was used to layout the form of the buildings by vary changes on each floorings. All straight lines together had joined a dramatic curve, which had the meaning of " the power of students when they are all united". Small could makes big changes.

Temporary Chapel of St. Loup
Pompaples, Switzerland, 2008
This is a wooden framed piece of architecture using computer technology (CAD) in designing progress. The repeating scales and proportions generate an eye-catching form, which interact with the surrounded mountains and landscape. It is always a key to create interesting forms and shapes but yet functional and be matched with the landscape visually and physically, to gain most benefits to the building and the interiors. I think this chapel has just set a great example in this point and besides, I love the holy lighting effects created on the building and into the spaces within. This building itself could talk in the same language with its function by all means, through shapes, colors, forms, lightings and spatial divisions. What's more,I love the echo created by the building shape for sound vibrations.

The Dim Sum kids series, Mae Yeung, 2010

This is a photograph I took last year for my original figures. This is a short-format children book series I wrote for kids and kidults. The two characters are the dim sum brothers who love to play around in the garden and have small funny adventures all around. I made my figures with cloths and tried to capture the moment they were resting under the beautiful sun in the garden. I love this picture because of the photo-shooting angle and the two adorable kids. It's time for an adventure!
